In September 2020, Impresa Manca acquired a contract from Enel for the permanent safety measures of the ash basins (MISP) coming from the coal residues used by the La Spezia thermoelectric power plant.
The area affected by the works was approximately 90,000 m2. and divided into two basins (A&B)
The scope of work of the €5.2 million contract included:
- Continuous environmental monitoring
- The removal of the forest created on the basins
- The altimetric adjustment of the basins with disposal of dangerous products to landfill
- The capping of the basins with TNT, 2.5 mm thick HDPE sheath, stabilization geogrid
- Filling with topsoil
- Construction of rainwater drainage channels
- Planting of tree species
the work was completed in October 2022
